The serpent head from the world's best-preserved Viking ship on display for the first time
The serpent head from the Oseberg ship has never been exhibited before. It has been kept in storage due to its delicate condition, until now. In the family exhibition Miðgarðr – The Mythical World of the Vikings, you will be able to see the original for the very first time.

About the museum
In the Historical Museum you will find exhibitions about Norwegian history from the Stone Age to the Viking Age and the Middle Ages. Experience one of the two best preserved Viking helmets in the world, and get an insight into the world's cultural diversity in our ethnographic exhibitions.
