Celebrate Pride Month at the Historical Museum with an enlightening lecture by Jan Franjul, delving into the real-life stories and struggles of the Croatian LGBTIQ+ community.

The state of the rights in Croatia can be explained with a simple sentence – two steps forwards, one step back.

In this talk, Jan Franjul from Proces – a Croation association for the promotion of queer culture and LGBTIQ+ rights – will present the milestones in the struggle for LGBTIQ+ rights in Croatia and the Western Balkan Region, the current situation, and the work of activists in these areas.

Moreover, he will present the Coming Out Museum in the city Pula in Croatia and its transformative potential in contributing to the empowerment of the LGBTIQ+ community.

Jan Franjul works in the independent arts and culture sector. Through his work in NGOs, his focus turned to "artivism" – an intersection of art and activism that uses arts and culture as tools for social change, challenging the status quo, and provoking new questions with the goal of creating a more accepting society.

The lecture will be given in English.

Free entry, but registration is required due to limited space.
